Biography - Gallery of Italian Paintings

Born in the hill country near Trieste, Italy, to an Italian mother and American father,
Rita Zaudke came to America when she was four years old, leaving behind the Delbello
family and many friends in Italy.  The influence of the Italian culture from her mother
and many trips back to Italy have provided a rich source of material for her paintings
of Italy.  Inspired by the Italian people, the picturesque villages, and the elaborate
architecture, she has produced a collection of beautiful paintings which reflect
her love for the country.

"As I looked around the city, I knew there could be a painting on every
corner.   Even doorways and balconies beckoned. The sounds of
streetcars going up the hillsides, the smell of garlic and basil coming
from Aunt Delores’ window, listening to Godfather Mario recount the
stories of days gone by, Nerina’s excellent gourmet meals, all
competed for my attention.   I knew I could never walk away
without telling Italy’s story... through my paintings."

Rita Zaudke has been painting for over twenty-five years
and has a masters degree in studio arts.   She has taught
workshops, juried art shows, won awards for her work
and her paintings can be found in public and
private collections throughout the
United States and Europe.
